She was born on May 28, 1932 in Knox, Kentucky to the late Gilbert and Chesney (Johnson) Hampton.
Betty married Rev. Ernest Dozier Jr on December 24, 1949 in Harlan, KY and he preceded her in death on March 16, 1990.
Betty was a professional homemaker and took on the role of a Pastor's wife with all of her heart. Together they would help to establish several churches from the ground up. Constantly a servant of the Lord, she would always relish the opportunity to spread God's word through her actions. She led Sunday School for many years instilling God's word in the hearts of countless children. She loved leading women's retreats and hosting Bible study groups. In God's light is where she felt the most at home; whether it be through scripture, song, or sermon. Later in life she worked as a companion caregiver for several elderly ladies. She was a member of Elston Family Church. She also enjoyed crafts, canning, quilting, and especially spending time with her family and her grandchildren.
Surviving is one daughter; one son; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Chris Dozier; four brothers, Clarence Hampton, Jesse Hampton, Jack Hampton and Eddie Hampton; and six sisters, Billie Jean Hampton, Doris Whitman, Bonnie Antrim, Patsy Osborne, Mary Frazier and Marie Haynes.
