Margie was the daughter of James Henry and Annie Lee Holmes of Pennington. She graduated from Pennington High School, Stephen F. Austin S.U. and Sam Houston S.U. She married Robert W. Wheeler in 1960 and was married for thirty-five years until he passed away in 1995. She was a teacher, coach, and administrator in Texas City ISD for over 30 years before retiring in 1994. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, her daughter Donna, and her son-in-law Joe Russo. She is survived by a step-son David Wheeler and daughter Tina Sanders & husband Karl, four grandsons Joseph, Mitchell, Dustin & Dylan, one granddaughter Alison, one great-granddaughter Brenna.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Groveton and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of Texas Retired Teachers Association and Delta Kappa Gama. She leaves her three beloved pets Duke, Duchess & Daisy.
