From the Houston County Cemetery Book 1978 edition -

"The location of this cemetery is .4 mile east from the Pennington Post Office on FM 358.

It has not been ascertained how the land for the Cemetery was acquired; however, since Daniel Daily owned most of the land for miles around, which he sold to the early settlers, and since he laid out the town of Pennington on the Houston-Trinity County line in 1866, it can be assumed that he donated the land for the Cemetery. His wife was one of the first ones buried there.

Mr T.N. Mainer, Pennington historian, stated that the original Baptist Church was organized near the Cemetery in May 1860, therefore, it was in use then. The first grave that is legible is that of E.T. Jones, MD who died May 2, 1859. The second one is that of Elizabeth Holley who died April 10, 1860, she is the mother of three Holley boys and Martha Holley Nelms, wife of Thomas H Nelms, all early settlers. The third grave is that of Mrs. Daniel Dailey who died April 17, 1860. The name is broken off, but the dates are legible.

Annual Memorial Services of the Pennington Cemetery Association are held on the Second Sunday in June at the Pennington Community Center."
