Following his graduation from Salisbury High School, he joined the U.S. Army and received an honorable discharge. Bob married Arlene Widdicombe on December 11, 1955 in Laurel, Montana and she survives of the home. He worked as a boilermaker out of Kansas City Local 83 and for years was a part-time farmer. He was a member of the Prairie Hill Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, a son, Larry Fitzgerald of Sunrise Beach, MO, three grandchildren, Ashley Bowers and her husband Jason of Cape Girardeau, MO; Paige Fitzgerald and Travis Fitzgerald both of Salisbury, two sisters, Wilma Hankins of Salisbury and Marian Mayse of Scottsdale, AZ, two aunts and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, James Edward Fitzgerald and Billie Fitzgerald at infancy.
