Born in Fauske, Norway, she married William Klaveness, a merchant marine, and spent many years on board ships with him and her four children. She became a naturalized US citizen in 1922 and lived in New Orleans for 51 years.
Preceded in death by her husband and son, Odd. Survived by son, Alfred Klaveness, and daughters, Gerd Klaveness and Aud (Klaveness) Cutshall, four grandsons and three granddaughters.
