Obituary - Speakers Tell of Life of "Uncle Hyrum" Morrill From Time He Came to This Section Until Death.
Tridell (Special) - Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 1:30 p.m. in the Tridell Ward Chapel for Hyrum Morrill, whose death occured Tuesday evening of last week at his home of ailments incident to age.
Bishop H. LeRoy Morrill presided at the services. The choir sang, "Oh My Father." Opening prayer was by D.A. Lamoreaux of Lapoint followed by a violin selection by Mrs. Kent Johnson of Roosevelt.
Speakers were Charles B. Bartlett of Tridell, Hayden Foster of Lapoint, and J.R. McKee of Tridell. They all spoke of his integrity and honesty and his pleasant patient disposition. They related how they had enjoyed going to his home always being welcomed.
Alta Lamoreaux and Melba Wilson of Lapoint sang "Beautiful Isle Of Somewhere" and Mrs. Johnson played a violin solo "Abide With Me," and "Sometime We'll Understand," after which the choir sang "I Need Thee Every Hour." Benediction was by Bart Merkley.
Interment was in the Tridell Cemetery whith J.T. Wilson dedicating the grave. Many beautiful flowers were brought and sent by relatives and friends of Mr. Morrill.
Hyrum Morrill, "Uncle Hy" as he is better known by his friends, came to Uintah County from Junction, Piute County, Utah in November 1911. He was born in Ft. Johnson, Utah January 14, 1956 having celebrated his seventy-ninth anniversary less than four weeks before his death. He went from Fort Johnson to Junction in the year 1878 being a pioneer of that county. For many years he carried the mail between Junction and Antimony.
He has served in both civil and church positions. He was Superintendent of the Sunday School of Junction Ward for a number of years.
He was the son of Laban and Permelia Drury Morrill. He was married July 10, 1884 to Harriet Ann Bay, the couple have celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary, July 10, 1934.
Besides his widow he is survived by the following children: Hyrum Elmer, Maude, Frank, Ivan L. and Charles Ellis Morrill of Tridell, Alta of Roosevelt and Rhoda G., of California. He has thirty-four living grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves the following brothers and sister, John and Charles Morrill of Junction and Mrs. Sarah Permelia Sudweeks of Kimberly, Idaho.
The family of Hyrum Morrill was doubly stricken as Mr. and Mrs. Morrill's daughter Mrs. Ada Jones of Maeser passed away but a few hours after her father had died.
