Jim Bishop Evans,age 84, and Ida Alice Edge Evans, age 89, passed away peacefully within hours of each other on Sunday February 18th, 2018, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. Holding each other's hand of 57 years of marriage,they where surrounded by family and loving hospital staff.

Jim was born on September 20th,1934 to Richard Edward (1898-1945) and Iva Blanche Wright Evans (1903-1991). His Father and Mother were both from Alabama.

Ida was born on December 9th, 1928 to Earnest Randolph (1903-1993) and Maude Edna Winsted Edge (1909-1998). Her mother was born in Oregon and her father was born in Georgia. They both passed away in Birmingham, Alabama.

They both attended The Alabama School for the Deaf and Blind.

On April 21,1961, they where married at St John's Episcopal Church for the Deaf.

Jim worked for Avondale Mills and Ida was a wonderful homemaker.

They are survived by two daughters, Betty Evans (Kevin Lambert) Amy Elliott (Jack Elliott), grandchildren, Jennifer Spano (Ladaries Townsend), Sarah Spano, Emily Spano (Jay Bicknell), Tony Spano Jr. (Wife) April Spano, Katherine Spano, Lena Spano, Steven Spano, Adam Elliott, and Andrew Elliott; great grandchildren, Ethan Townsend, Brooklyn Townsend, McKenzie McDonald and Major Evans, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Monday February 26,2018 at Ridout's Elmwood Chapel at 11:00 with a graveside service to follow at 11:30 at Elmwood Cemetery.
