Obituary for Mr. Marion Louis Coleman
Marion "Melvin" Louis Coleman 64, went on to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on February 5th, 2018. His devotion to God and his family made him an exceptionally wonderful son, brother, husband, father and grandfather.

Marion was born to Jesse B. Coleman and Minnie Mae Coleman on April 8, 1953 in Swifttown, Mississippi. He was number 7 of 13 children. As a youth, he attended school in Wichita, KS. Graduating from South High in 1971. He later attended college in Dodge City, KS earning his Associates Degree in Social work. He played basketball, football and track even making All-State (football) in high school and All-American in ju-Co in 1973. He was such an avid athlete that he was even interviewed by the Atlanta Falcons and was posted in a nationally well-known sports magazine. But his passion was elsewhere, and God had other plans ....

He later moved to OKC in 1977 where he dedicated his life to Christ and became a member of New Testament Holiness Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic Faith under the leadership of Bishop Margaret M. Overton. He married his best friend and fellow parishioner, Sharon White on April 22, 1979.

Marion was employed with the OKC Water Department for over 27 years and retired. He soon returned to the working world and was employed with Bimbo Bakeries in which he was to retire this May after 10 years. Marion was known for being a jokester and holding lengthy conversations of the goodness of God with family, friends and total strangers, even though he never really knew a stranger. He was not ashamed to let anyone know that he served an Awesome God. He was a distinguished gentleman, compassionate and caring to all who knew him. He especially loved his wife Sharon Coleman of 40 years this April. His love for her was that of a fairy tale but mostly of how a man was told by God one day while walking down the street that the woman who lived in the little white house on 50th and Prospect would be his wife. He
never doubted what God told him and to this union he gained a wife and 3 children that he raised as his
own. He always told his children that he did not have step children or halves and he showed it in the love
that he gave to us and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was named the "hero of the neigh-
borhood" on the street he lived on by those that lived there or visited him. He was a role model for his
nieces, nephews, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and those who knew him. The wisdom
he shared and the ways that he loved all will be forever remembered and greatly missed. "t must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work." St. John 9:4 "Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer" St. John 3: 7 2.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse B. Coleman and two sisters, Mae Helen Cox and Lonnie Mae Jackson of Wichita, KS., He is survived by his beautiful wife of 40 years, Sharon Coleman; his beautiful mother, Minnie Mae
Coleman of Wichita, KS; daughters: Rochelle White and Monique Arnold (Derrick), both of Oklahoma City, OK; son, Ty Nelson of Oklahoma City, OK; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five brothers: Edward Coleman (Mary), George Coleman (Mia), Floyd Coleman, Autry Coleman (Rachel), and Jesse Coleman, [r.: five sisters: Vernola Armour, Melvertta "LeeLee" Coleman, Dorcas Douglas (lohnny), Izonia Liggins (Mark), and Jane E. Jackson; and a Host of other relatives and friends.
