Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Bear, age 88, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Mercy Medical Center in Centerville.
Betty was born on April 8, 1929, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Jack G. Morris Sr. and Ann (Blazina) Morris. She graduated from Centerville High School. She was united in marriage to Thomas Richard Bear on July 16, 1950, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. From this union, two children were born, Morris Richard Bear and William "Billy" Thomas Bear.
Following high school, Betty was employed at the Appanoose County Courthouse. She worked in the Appanoose County Treasurer's Office for 16 years. When the children were born, Betty decided to stay home to raise her children.
Betty enjoyed cooking, knitting, painting, making pottery, and listening to music. Later in life, she was very fond of watching the wildlife outside of her home. She was also a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville.
Left to honor Betty's memory include her husband, Thomas Bear of Centerville; her children, Morris Bear of Centerville, and Billy Bear of Centerville; two grandchildren, Dustin Richard Bear of Nashville, Tennessee, and Dane Thomas Bear of Centerville; a brother-in-law, James E. (Barbara) Bear and family; four nieces and nephews, Linda Johnson, Michele Meanly, Patrick Morris, Mike Morris and all of their families; as well as numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Morris Sr. and Ann Morris; and a brother, Jack Morris Jr.
Funeral Services will be held at 11AM, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home and Crematory in Centerville with Father Bill Hubmann officiating. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oakland Cemetery in Centerville. A Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Lange Funeral Home in Centerville with family greeting friends from 10-11AM. Memorials have been established to the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana, and may be mailed to Lange Funeral Home, 1900 South 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
