He learned much about faith and his Savior from his Godly earthly father while growing up in Oden, Arkansas and attending Little Hope Baptist Church. Travis earned his Master's Degree from The University of Arkansas in May of 1971. He married his wife, Nancy, in July of 1971 in Little Rock, Arkansas. They moved to Nacogdoches in 1972 so Travis could pursue his career as a sales representative in the poultry industry. His hobbies included golf, field trials, bird hunting, and walking horses. He would often brag about his children and grandchildren whom he loved very much. The grandchildren knew him best simply as "Bud."
He was an active member of First Baptist Church in Nacogdoches. Travis' Bible was worn from the time he spent studying and learning the word . He strived to live his life in a manner that was pleasing to God. Travis' family, just like Travis did, places their hope in Christ. 2 Cor. 5:8 says "to be absent from the body is to be present with Christ." We rejoice that our father is celebrating eternity with Christ and are thankful and rejoice for the time we shared with him here.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Dennis Goodner.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Goodner; daughter, Andrea Jones and husband Clay and their children Ashlyn and Cait Jones; daughter, Julie Creel and husband Austin and their son Travis Reed Creel; sister, Sandra Slaton and husband Gene; nieces, Amanda Bohlman and husband Scott and Mikayla Newton and husband Cody; nephew, Jacob Goodner; great nephews, Damian Bohlman and Braylan Bohlman; and great niece, Adalyn Bohlman.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 19, 2018, at Pine Ridge Cemetery in Oden, Arkansas.
Pallbearers will be Alton Dollar, Ricky Dollar, Jacob Goodner, David Maddox, Danny Miller, Joe Parsley, and Gene Slaton.
