Rodney Jacobs was a ski instructor for Vail Resorts
VAIL VALLEY, Colorado –Rodney L. Jacobs, 47 of Edwards, and formerly of Sterling, Ill., died Friday following a courageous five-year battle with cancer.
He was born on July 6, 1962, in Sterling, Ill., the son of Roger and Rose (Meinen) Jacobs and was a 1980 graduate of Sterling High School. He married Delfina "Pia" Villarreal on July 7, 1999, in Keystone.
Rodney was employed as a ski instructor for Vail Resorts. He was a member of the Professional Ski Instructors of America and a member of the Sons of the American Legion Post 902 Rock Falls, lll. Rodney was an avid skier and hiker.
Surviving is his wife, Pia; parents Roger and Rose Jacobs of Sterling; sisters Debra & Sharon; one niece & four nephews; two great nephews; one great niece; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the McDonald Funeral Home, 1002 12th Avenue in Rock Falls, Ill. Graveside services will follow on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Coloma Township Cemetery in Rock Falls.
A memorial will be established in his memory
