Mickey spent her retired years living in San Felipe, Mexico; driving her motor home around the U.S. in the summer with friends and visiting exotic sites around the world. In her later years she would spend six months in Mexico with her friends at El Dorado Ranch, and six months in Portsmouth with her family enjoying fellowship at Resurrection Catholic Church, exercising with the ladies at the YMCA, luncheons with her Red Hats groups, and day trips to anywhere the bus was going. She lived by her calendar of events!
Mickey started her work career with the U.S. Government in 1942 working as a stenographer at the Pentagon. She continued that career path in Hampton, Virginia at various government locations until 1969. After moving to California she worked at the Bank of California (Beverly Hills) and continued there until her retirement.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Brenda Peede; her mother, Leona Borgman McKenry; her father, Clifford McKenry; and her two siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Carole and Joyce; sons, Bruce (Barbara) and Brian (Linda); ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and her close friend, Carol Loria.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, Virginia. Immediately following the visitation, a celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Parklawn Memorial Park.
