ROY A. TALBOTT
(1883-1955)
Wellston - Roy A. Talbott, 72, chemist of the municipal waterworks here since 1927, died Thursday afternoon at Holzer Hospital in Gallipolis.
Prominent in church and Mason activities for many years, Mr. Talbott is survived by his wife, the former Ethel Burden; a son, Robert of Jackson; and two grandchildren. A brother, Vaughn, lives in Portsmouth.
Born Dec. 29, 1883, in Ironton, Mr. Talbott made his home in Wellston for 68 years. He operated a confectionery for many years after entering business in 1907. Later he became an automobile salesman. When the city's filtration plant was built in 1927, he was appointed chief chemist and plant operator.
Mr. Talbott was a son of William and Erie Ann Davis Talbott, deceased.
He was a member of Black Diamond Lodge, F&AM of Wellston, Chapter and Council Masons and served as an officer in each group. Mr. Talbott also served as treasurer of the Wellston Methodist Church and on the board of trustees. In addition, he was a director of the Citizens Building & Loan Assn., and a member of the Ohio State Professional Engineers Assn.
Friends may call at the residence on South New York Ave. after 7 tonight. Funeral services are to be conducted at the residence at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Revs. D.H. Householder and C.R. Williamson are to officiate.
Burial is to be in Ridgewood Cemetery under direction of Gaskill Funeral Home.
