Henry Baldwin, who resided in this community for many years, was called beyond Sunday morning at 4:30 o'clock after an illness of several months. Death came to him at the hospital in this city. No record of his birthplace was available, although during early life his parents resided in the West. He was 80 years, three months and nine days old, having been born on July 8, 1858. He spent some time in Kentucky and Ohio, but for over forty years had been a resident of this community. When he came to his community he was engaged as expert mechanic for a farm machinery company. He was also employed in the local light plant for a time. Much of his time was spent in farming, his farm being located on highway 71, about four miles north of this city.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Carrie Baldwin, who resides in this city, and his two daughters, Addie and Emma.

birthplace: most census records say he was born in Kentucky. (5 say KY, 1 says NJ, 1 says NY.) He was baptized in New Jersey, and that is where he resided in 1860, so despite every census after 1860 saying differently, New Jersey seems to make the most sense.
