Kathy Hirata Jensen, age 85, of The Colony, Texas, passed away February 5, 2018. Kathy was born January 20, 1933, to Tomoyuki and Takio (Okiyama) Hirata, in Tokyo, Japan. She grew up in Japan and married Earl E. Jensen, a United States Air Force Veteran. They traveled from Japan to the United States until his retirement in 1975 where they settled in The Colony, Texas. Kathy loved to play bridge, sew, cook and shop.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen Jensen Spigler and husband, Harvey of Southwest Ranches, Florida and Kathy Diane Ferguson and husband, Danny of The Colony, Texas; grandchildren, Kris Shawn Kelly Walters, Daniel Devon Ferguson Danchan, Daryl Earl Ferguson Dechan, Darren L. A. Thomas Ferguson Dbo, and Paul Michael Jensen Spigler; great-grandchildren, Brian Townsend, Cody King, Kallie Lind, Trystin Ferguson, Isaiah Ferguson, Lilly Ferguson, Olivia Ferguson, and Penelope Ferguson; brothers, Kazuo Hirata of Tokyo, Japan; sister-in-law, Tsuyako Hirata; brother-in-law, Yoshio Yamaguchi; and nieces and nephews, Takahiko Yamaguchi, Yoshime Hirata, and Tomotada Hirata.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Earl E. Jensen, brother, Yobe Hirata, and sister, Yoshia Yamaguchi.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, February 10, 2018, at Lakeway Baptist Church, 4000 North Colony Blvd., The Colony, Texas, 75056. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
