The funeral for Alvin Kolb, 61, 801 North State, Aberdeen, was held Monday, Oct. 10, 1988 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Aberdeen, with the Rev. Terry Naasz officiating. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Military graveside rites were held by Sidney L. Smith American Legion Post #24.

Mr. Kolb died Thursday, Oct. 6, 1988 at St. Luke's Midland Regional Medical Center.

Alvin Kolb was born April 11, 1927 in McPherson County, rural Long Lake to John F. and Christina Hoff Kolb. He started school in rural Long Lake. After school he farmed on his own. He was married to Beverly Wahl June 2, 1947 at Groton. He entered the U.S. Army in 1954. He was honorably discharged in 1956. He and his family moved to Aberdeen where he owned and operated Al's Texaco Service until his retirement in September, 1980. He continued to make Aberdeen his home.

Mr. Kolb was a member of the VFW Post #17, Hub Area Duplicate Bridge Club, a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and a past church council member.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly, Aberdeen; five sons, Gregory and Dana, Burnsville, Minn.; Terry, Egan, Minn.; Daniel and Alvin Jr., both of Aberdeen; two brothers, Herbert, Aberdeen, and Julius, Groton; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin (Kathrine) Amsden and Mrs. Alex (Ella) Bickler, both of Aberdeen; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and one sister.

Honorary casketbearers were all his friends and associates. Casketbearers were David Kolb, Milton Kolb, Ernie Hoff and Todd Gross, all of Aberdeen; Randy Kolb, Watertown and Myron Fisk, Verdon.

Organist was Susan Ellingson and there was congregational singing. Ushers were Don Kessler and Otto Walth.
