Services for Richard Nightingale Jr., 74, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at
Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Nightingale died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
He was born March 28, 1929, in Lawrence, the son of Richard Sr. and Edna (Patterson) Nightingale.
He was raised in Lawrence and attended Liberty Memorial High School.
Mr. Nightingale was a painter at Kansas University until he retired in 1991.
He married Edythe Lorraine Keller on March 6, 1947, in Ottawa. She died June 16, 2003.
A son, Randy Calvin, died in 1991.
Survivors include a son, Richard John Nightingale, Lawrence; two daughters, Carol Gonce and Sheila Supancic,
both of Lawrence; a sister, Helen Perkins, Lawrence; eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. today and Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive
them from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
The family suggests memorials to Midland Hospice House, sent in care of the funeral home.
