Obituary

Margaret "Maggie" Cross
December 7, 1954 – December 10, 2017

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Bakersfield, CA

Margaret was the first child born to parents Roy and Betty Cross. She was later joined by her sisters Diane and Cassielee and her brother Matt. Her family and many friends were everything to Margaret and she was eternally grateful for them – including her fur babies Trixie and Travis.

She grew up locally, attending Mt. Vernon, Sierra Jr. High, and Foothill HS, graduating in 1973. During her school career, Margaret was an avid violinist and was always in the school orchestra.

Margaret attended Bakersfield College, earning a Legal Secretary Certificate. Latter she studied Paralegal Studies/Law at West Los Angeles College. She worked as a Legal Secretary/Paralegal for over 30 years in the Santa Monica area. When she returned to Bakersfield in 2004, she became an Administrative Secretary at the Bakersfield City School District.

Margaret was very active in her community and church, where she currently served as the chorister in the Relief Society and a Visiting Teacher. She was a member of several professional organizations, including K.A.E.O.P. and Zonta International. She was named Office Professional of the Year in 2016.

Margaret's life revolved around her family, the Church, her many friends and her dogs. She loved to travel, America being her favorite destination. Margaret loved humor, music, reading, learning, American history, crafts, and accessories of all kinds. She had a gift for organization. It was her true calling. She once reorganized an organization manual!

Margaret is preceded in death by her parents Roy & Betty Cross, sister Diane and nephew Steven Craig. She leaves behind her loving family: sister Cassielee and brother and sister-in-law, Matt and Lisa, and niece Nikki Craig Majias. She also leaves behind her beloved dogs and her wonderful friends and relatives. "God be with you 'till we meet again."

It was Margaret's request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the College Heights Ward Humanitarian Program, c/o 1903 Bernard Street, Bakersfield, CA 93305.
