Jerry Allison Lindsey of Westville, Florida died unexpectedly at his home on January 26, 2018. He was 67 years old.

The arrangements are being cared for Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, Alabama.

The Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 29, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Minister’s Judah Hill and Ken Leffler officiating.

Interment will be at Midway Cemetery immediately following.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 5pm to 7pm.

Jerry was the 2nd son of 2 children born to Joe Marion “Pete” Lindsey and Mary Evelyn Thomas Lindsey.

He was born on February 10, 1950 in Holmes County, Florida.

Jerry had 3 brothers: Joe Marion Lindsey, Jr (wife Dale) of Westville, FL, Gregory L. Summerlin (Rene’) of Westville, Fl., Andrew Lindsey of Freeport, Fl.

He had 5 sisters: Rita Summerlin Hughes (Ronnie) of Columbus, GA, Rebecca Lindsey Slate of Kernersville, NC, Teresa Lindsey Altemus (John) of Wicomica, VA, Patty Lindsey (Todd WolPert) of Norfolk, VA and Shannen Lindsey Jenkins of Wicomica, VA

Jerry attended Bethlehem High School.

He married Leona Naomi Trammell on February 1, 1969.

He enlisted in the US Army in 1969 and completed his active service in 1974.

He served a Tour of Duty in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart Award for the injuries sustained during combat.

After his Military Service he was employed by Civil Service at Eglin Airforce Base as a Civil Engineer from 1974 to 2005.

He resided in Mossy Head, FL with his family for over 30 thirty years before returning to the New Hope community upon his retirement.

Jerry enjoyed playing guitar, country music, old western movies, cooking, making cane syrup, hunting, farming, and especially fishing.

His most outstanding and endearing quality was his love for his family and his friends.

His greatest pleasure was doing for and giving to others with great generosity.

Jerry had an amazing bond with his Mother –in-law & Father-in-law and all his wife’s siblings and their spouses.

Jerry is survived by his faithful wife of 48 years,

His younger daughter Donna Allison Lindsey Hudlow and husband Jason of Panama City Beach, FL,

His only Grandchild Lydia Martina Garlo Simmons and husband Nicholas of Tallahassee, Fl.

Jerry is also survived by his Stepmother Joan Lindsey of Wicomica, VA, and the 3 brothers & 5 sisters listed above, as well as several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces & Nephews, cousins – especially Wayne Morris and special friends Terry King, Dewayne Scott & Lamar Wilkerson.

Jerry is preceded in death by his father Joe Marion “Pete” Lindsey, his mother Mary Evelyn Thomas Summerlin, step-father Clarence Hubert Summerlin, his older daughter Tracy Lynn Lindsey Garlo and nephew Lonnie Lee Lindsey.
