A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 10:00 am at St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette for Michael George Mouton, 59, who passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at The Carpenter House in Lafayette.
Interment will follow in Fountain Memorial Cemetery in Lafayette.
Michael was born May 20, 1958, in New Iberia and lived most of his life in Lafayette. He was a 1976 graduate of Acadiana High School and was a proud member of the Track and Football teams. Michael was employed in the Oilfield for most of his life. He was a parishioner of St. Edmond Roman Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Michael most enjoyed being with his family. He loved going to all of his kids’ extracurricular activities. Michael enjoyed camping, hiking, crabbing and travel. He loved cooking and spending time with his family and friends. Michael was a proud “Pops” to his six month old grandson, Jeb Michael Mouton. He loved being an uncle and great-uncle. Michael was a beloved husband for 37 years and was a dedicated and loving father to his three children. He will be deeply missed as a loving father, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin, godfather and friend.
Michael is survived by his beloved wife, Debra Bearb-Mouton of Lafayette; two sons, Joshua Michael Mouton and his wife, Maddie of Erath and Matthew Jonathon Mouton and his fiance, Gina Woods of New Orleans; his daughter, Megan Mouton of Lafayette; his parents, Marc, Sr. and Betty Lou LaCour-Mouton of Lafayette; five brothers, Marc Mouton, Jr. and his wife, Mona of Judice, Eric Mouton, Sr. and his wife, Karen of Maurice, Dennis Mouton, Sr. and his wife, Natalie of Erath, Chris Mouton of Lafayette and William Mouton and his wife, Lisa of Leroy; his sister, Susan Thibodeaux and her husband, Wade of Cankton; his grandson, Jeb Michael Mouton of Erath; five godchildren, William Mouton, Marae Bearb, Eric Mouton, Jr. and Timmy and Riley Grace Bearb and numerous dear cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Scranton and Inez von Phul Mouton; his maternal grandparents, Dedier and Celeste LaCour; two uncles, Monsignor Richard von Phul Mouton and Scranton Mouton, Jr.; three nephews, Darrien Thibodeaux, Nathan LeJeune and Taylor Bearb and his brother-in-law, David Bearb.
