Clarence Leonard Baker, age 93, a resident of East Prairie, died Friday, January 26, 2018, at Bertrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born on October 26, 1924 in rural East Prairie to Clarence A. and Lena Marten Baker. A member of the First Baptist Church in East Prairie, he graduated from East Prairie High School in 1942 then enlisted in the US Army and served in the OSS. (Office of Strategic Services) Following his discharge he returned to East Prairie where he farmed and worked as a mechanic.

In November 1971 he married Mary Gene Smotherman who preceded him in death on January 15, 2015.

Surviving is one sister, Marjorie Lee Baker of East Prairie and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by one infant brother, CL Baker, and one sister, Elizabeth Marie Baker.

Visitation will be held in the East Prairie First Baptist Church on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted in the East Prairie First Baptist Church on Monday, January 29, 2018, at10:00 a.m. with Rev. George White of East Prairie, and Rev Aaron Powell, Pastor, officiating.

Graveside Rites will be conducted at Dogwood Cemetery by the Missouri Military Honor Guard. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be J.W. Grogan, Martin Hutcheson, Gary Hancock, Steve Douglas, Thomas Smotherman, and Paul Mantle Jr.
