Warren E. Bailey, beloved father, grandfather and husband, passed away peacefully on January 19, 2018 at age 89.

Warren was born in Harlem, Montana to George A. and Alice M. Bailey and began working early in life. Starting at eight years old, he worked on a ranch during the summer herding turkeys and at ten years of age, helped deliver baked goods during the weekends (his mother affectionately called him "my little breadwinner"). Warren was also an excellent student, taking 2nd place in the county math contest at the age of ten.

At age 17, Warren joined the U.S. Merchant Marines and delivered wheat to Morocco and Japan. At 18, Warren joined the U.S. Army. His first assignment was Vint Hill Farms Station, a National Security Agency facility. Eventually Warren was assigned to the 3rd Armor Division at Fort Knox, Kentucky. After the Korean War started, Warren was deployed to Korea and assigned to the Field Artillery Battalion, 3rd Infantry Division. At the end of his deployment, Warren was assigned to Japan. There, Warren met the love of his life, Misako "Sandy", who was working at the Sasebo U.S. Army Post. Warren and Sandy were married at the American Embassy in Tokyo and Warren was assigned to U.S. Army Japan headquarters at Camp Zama. After the birth of their first child (1956), the young Bailey family moved to the United States and had 3 additional children over the next several years. Warren attended the U.S. Air Force Technical School at Kessler AFB, majoring in Air Traffic Control Operations, and completed training at the NCO Academy at Fort Riley. As a military family, Warren and Sandy traveled frequently with their four children changing residences and schools every few years. During this time, Warren completed one peacekeeping mission in Korea and two combat tours with the 1st Calvary Division in Vietnam. In 1975, Warren retired as First Sergeant, Air Traffic Controller Supervisor, with nearly 30 years of service and the family settled in North Highlands, CA.

Warren is survived by his sons, Michael and Edward; Edward's wife, Vilma; his daughter, Nina; two grandsons, Anthony and Ethan; three granddaughters, Marina, Diana, and Samantha; and four great-grandchildren, Liliana, ChristiAnna, Aydan, and Kaitlyn; many nieces and nephews; and his sister, Dolores.

Warren's passing was preceded by the passing of his beloved wife of 57 years, Sandy, and his dear son, Thomas.

Our father was a wonderful man, loved and respected by many, lived a good long life, loved each of us deeply, served our country with honor, taught us well, and will be in our hearts forever.

The viewing will be held at 9:00 AM followed by chapel services at 10:00am on Friday, February 9, 2018 at East Lawn Sierra Hills, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento, CA 95841.
