Joseph Amos Morgan, of Welsh descent, was born in Hopkins County, Texas. When he was about seven years old, he came with his father, John F. Morgan, to a wilderness on the West side of the Colorado River, in a small wagon train. Coming with them or about the same time were two Tow brothers, William and Wilson. They called their new home Tow Valley. After a post office came, it was put on the map as just Tow, Texas. Joseph was raised on his father's 640-acre land grant. He married Nancy Francis Tow, the daughter of William and Mary Tow. They raised three children. One of them was my father, Isaac Millard Morgan. Everyone called him Jack. In the foothills of Tow Valley near Morgan Springs, Joseph made his home on the land he inherited from his father, John F. Morgan. He raised cattle and used the resources from the land as his father had taught him. He did what he could to help his fellow man and fought for what he believed in. He served as a Texas Ranger in Capt. Frank Breazeal's company and also in the CSA Company H of Bradford's Texas Calvary, where he received the Southern Cross of honor.

I am Joseph Lloyd Morgan; I speak for my family and me. We are honored to call Joseph Amos Morgan our Grandfather.
