Probably died as a result of the smallpox epidemic in Little Hoosic Valley in 1813. Probably died on the farm purchased recently from Jonathan Bly at Bly Hollow next to Samuel Shaw in Cherry Plain. Likely now interned at the Center Baptist Cemetery, as is James.

The remains of James Main Sr. and Burton Hammond were simultaneously exposed in a sandbank near Daniel Hull's house in Center Berlin, as sand was washed away or hauled away. The remains of both were reburied at the Center Berlin Cemetery Plot 174. Friends in Life, now Friends in Eternity.
