Marvin "Billy" Willis Porter, Jr., born January 17, 1950, passed away at age 68 on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He enlisted in the United States Army in March 1968 and earned the rank of Specialist 4. He was a member of the 1st Infantry 11th Light Brigade and along with many medals, he was awarded a bronze star for his service in the Vietnam War. He was a member of Liberty Park Baptist Church. He retired from U. S. Steel after 35 years.

He is survived by the love of his life, Debby Porter, his wife of 46 years; sons Brandon Lee Porter and Bradley Clayton Porter (Katrina); and a grandson Huston Porter, who he adored.

Visitation will be at Ridout's Trussville Chapel on Saturday, January 27, 2018 from 12:30 until 2:30 with the funeral service to follow at 2:30. Burial will be at Wideman Cemetery, 3001 Pump House Road, Vestavia Hills, Alabama 35243.
