Iris Dell (Beatty) Alford

Thayer, MO - Iris Dell (Beatty) Alford was born June 3, 1931, in Thayer, MO to Audra (Martin) Beatty and Ralph Beatty, and passed away January 22, 2018, at her home.

She was a 1948 graduate of Couch High School. On July 2, 1949, she was married at Salem, AR, to Denton Alford. They celebrated 60 years of marriage before his death July 21, 2009. They were blessed with 3 children.

As a young homemaker she was involved in Home Extension work and a member of the Alpha Rose Club. She enjoyed all crafts and quilting with Salem Quilt Guild and Thayer Freewill Baptist Quilt Guild. She and Denton operated restaurants in the area for many years.

Survivors include: Greg Alford and wife Ginny of Thayer, MO; Deborah Knox and husband Tom of Mtn. Home, AR; grandchildren Cortland Knox of Fayetteville, AR, Sarah Hansen and husband Keith of Chesterfield, MO, Jacob Alford of Fayetteville, AR, Jordan Alford of Columbia, MO, Jessie Carlisle and husband Kyle of Sikeston, MO, Kristopher Alford of Springfield, MO; great-grandchildren Wally Hansen, Graeme Hansen, Kaden Carlisle, Peyton Carlisle, and Liam Carlisle; a sister, Ralpha Phillips and husband Don of Broken Arrow, OK; a sister-in-law, MayBelle Beatty of Mammoth Spring, AR; 3 nieces; 3 nephews; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Denton Alford; her parents, Ralph and Audra Beatty; a son, Ken Alford; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruthene and John Alexander; and a brother, Martin Beatty.

Iris was a Christian and of the Freewill Baptist Faith. She especially enjoyed watching her grandkids play basketball, but loved all of the Thayer Bobcat basketball teams.

Graveside services will be 2pm Friday, January 26, 2018, at the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, MO, with Bro. Johnny Holesapple officiating, and burial in the Thayer Cemetery in Thayer, MO. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Thursday, January 25, 2018, at the Clary Funeral Home in Thayer, MO. Arrangements are under the direction of the Clary Funeral Home of Thayer, MO.
