Gwen Peterson Judkins was born on January 14, 1935 to Clare Peterson and Nan Hatch. She passed away of natural causes on November 7, 2017 at the age of 82 surrounded by her family. Gwen married, then later divorced Bary Judkins and together they had 9 children; Jeff (Mary Kay), Jerry (Karen), Jay (Diane), Jodi Aird (Dave), Jon (Lanette), Jennifer (deceased), Janine Wilson (Travis), Janette Warnock (Mark), and Jane Gottschall (John). Gwen found great joy in her posterity of 29 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. She is survived by sister Nola Neeley, and brothers Gary and Richie Peterson. Gwen was preceded in death by daughter Jennifer, great-grandson Jerry, mother Nan, and two siblings David Peterson and JoAnn Bryner. Gwen found great joy in creating a welcoming home for her family where popcorn and a cold soft drink with a lot of ice were always on hand. The things we learned from her were how to be organized, dependable, hardworking, thrifty, kind, empathetic, and to never judge a book by its cover. Gwen instilled in her family a love of sports and was a staple at all of her family's little league, high school, college, and professional games with a stat book in hand. She handled her life with dignity and grace and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Gwen enjoyed many years of service in her variety of church callings. She was dearly loved, and will be dearly missed. "Talk to ya." The family wishes to express sincere appreciation and gratitude to the caregivers at the Abbington Care Center. A viewing will be held on Sunday, November 19 at Larkin Sunset Lawn (2350 East 1300 South, SLC, UT) from 6:00-8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 20 at the Monument Park Stake Center (1320 Wasatch Drive, SLC, UT) and will include a viewing from 10:30-11:30 AM with a service to follow at 12:00 PM.
