Peregrine was the son of Jedediah and Mary Dwight Foster.

Peregrine married Polly Parkman on July 10, 1780 in Brookfield, MA.

He was a Veteran of the American Revolution, serving, as a Private under Capt. Daniel Gilbert, and Col. Job Cushing in 1777, and as a Sargent under Capt. Asa Danforth, and Cols. Convers and Whitney of the Massachusetts troops.
