Danny Charles Lambert, 62, passed away on Saturday (Jan. 21, 2018) at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was a loving husband, father and papaw. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved the outdoors and especially loved hunting and fishing. He was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served in the 101st Airborne Division. Danny was of Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Oma Trent ; two brothers, Tony Lambert and Oliver Lambert; and two sisters, Margaret Smith and Mary Ann Spears.
Danny is survived by his wife of 29 years, Deborah Lambert; five sons, Jonathan (Savannah) Lambert, Brandon Thacker, Steve Thacker, Cameron (Audrionna) Wells, and Bradley (Tenisha) Dickenson, all of Big Stone Gap, VA; one daughter, Tana Collier of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Emma, Hunter and Berkley Lambert, Jocelyn, Austin, Kylie and Jalynn Thacker, Leevi, Gavin and McKenzleigh Wells; one great grandson, Aidan Swiney; sister, Laura Burton of Tenn.; four brothers, Rick (Peggy) Trent of Duffield, VA, Lanny Trent of Dryden, VA, David (Kim) Trent of Tenn. and Tim (Pattie) Trent of Farmville, VA; several nieces and nephews ; and close friends, Jim Harris, Lee Collier and Laura Dickenson.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Holding Funeral Home (17 E. 3rd St., N.) in Big Stone Gap. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with T. J. Jones officiating.
Military graveside rites, by local V.F.W. and D.A.V., will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Powell Valley Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Jonathan Lambert, Brandon Thacker, Steven Middleton, Cameron Wells, Bradley Dickenson and Lee Collier.
