Mr. Chaney has made Waycross his home for the past 44 years. He owned J & R Welding supply and was a member of Central Baptist Church. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jack E. Chaney, Jr.
Mr. Chaney is survived by his wife Peggy F. Chaney of Waycross, three sons, Ricky Chaney and his wife Tammy of Waycross, John Chaney and his wife Amy of Jacksonville, Florida, Ross Chaney of Atlanta, his grandchildren, Kelli Howell and her husband Stacy of Waycross, Ashley Chaney of Statesboro, Litza Chaney of Waycross, J.J. Chaney of Waycross, Matt Chaney of Jacksonville, Florida, Blake Chaney of Waycross, two great grandchildren, Sydney Ruble of Waycross, Isabella Tatum of Waycross, two sisters, Carol Fellows of Atlanta, Dorothy Sanders of Raleigh, North Carolina, a brother, Cliff Chaney of Lawrenceville, Georgia, a close family friend, Kim Chaney of Waycross and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A funeral service will be held 11 am, Thursday at Central Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the Miles-Odum Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vera Felder Scholarship Fund, 2372 Main St., Tucker, Georgia 30084.
