She proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Rita met her first husband, Jack Lee and they were married in San Francisco, California on November 25, 1945. They enjoyed 26 years of marriage before Jack's passing on March 22, 1972. She later met Maurice Fuller and they were married in 1976 at St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, Maurice passed away December 8, 2011.
After Rita's return to Maine, she enrolled at Farmington State Teachers College and graduated in 1958 with a bachelor degree in teaching. She taught Home Economics for SAD #52 in Leeds and Turner and served as Assistant Principal at Tripp Middle School in Turner.
She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay. Rita was a member of the Maine Teachers Association, the National Teachers Association and the American Legion George Bunton Post #10 in Livermore Falls.
She is survived by her daughter, Juanita Bouchard and her husband Ken of Blackwood, NJ, stepchildren, Karen Blais and her husband Norman of Ticonderoga, NY., Stephen Fuller and his wife Ellen of San Ramon, CA., and Janet Zawacki of Port Charlotte, FL., daughter-in-law, Irene Lee of Vasselboro, 6 grandchildren, 9 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 6 step-great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, Jack Lee and Maurice Fuller, daughter, Linda Tilton, son, Kenneth Lee, sisters, Blanche Galuza and Cecile Robinson, brothers, Wilfred, Albert, Norman and Robert Gagnon. Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.finleyfuneralhome.com
