Helen M. Reedy was born the daughter of Jacob and Stella Thomas Reedy on August 12, 1910, in East Saint Louis, Illinois.

Helen M. Reedy and Joel Burton Matlock were married on April 9, 1929, with C.E. Parsley, Justice of the Peace, officiating, in Clark County, Indiana. The marriage license/certificate are recorded in Clark county marriages 1929 - 1929 Volume 97, page 341.

They were blessed with three children.

OBITUARY:

Helen M. Matlock, 86, of Seymour, died at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 1996, at Heritage House in Seymour, after an illness of one week.

Mrs. Matlock retired in 1976 after 20 years with Excello Shirt Factory in Seymour, and at one time had attended Honeytown Christian Church.

Born Aug. 12, 1910, in East St. Louis, Ill., she was a daughter of Jacob and Stella Thomas Reedy. On April 9, 1929, in Jeffersonville, she married Joel Burton Matlock, who died Dec. 23, 1983.

Survivors include a son, Roger B Matlock in Seymour; a daughter, Mrs Harold (Alta) Gresham, Seymour; a brother, John J. Reedy, Bloomington; a sister, Alice Thompson, Cortland; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Herschel Matlock; a sister, Alta Toppe; a brother Lawrence Reedy; and a great-grandson, Brian Bode.

The Rev. Kris Small will conduct services at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Winklepleck-Weesner Funeral Home in Brownstown, with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Brownstown.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and after 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to Honeytown Christian Church or donor's choice.
