Caroline Fontine, 99, of West Scranton, died Thursday at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa. after a short illness. Her husband of 51 years, Fred Fontine, died in 1993.

Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Peter and Anna Addeo Ruotolo, she was a member of St. Patrick's Church. A graduate of Scranton Technical High School, she was employed as a floor lady in the garment industry for more than 25 years and was a member of the ILGWU.

Caroline was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her family would like to thank all the staff at the Jewish Home of Eastern Pa., especially the fourth floor staff for their compassion and tender loving care given to Caroline.

She is survived by a daughter, Connie Fanning and husband, Dennis, Scranton; a son, Peter Fontine and wife, Mary Ellen, Scranton; two grandsons, Jody Fanning and wife, Lindsey, Clarks Summit; and Michael Fanning and wife, Mallory, Scranton; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan, Makenzie and Connor.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ruotolo.

The funeral will be Tuesday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Patrick's Church, 1403 Jackson St., celebrated by the Rev. Richard Fox, pastor. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery.

Friends may call Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Neil W. Regan Funeral Home Inc., 1900 Pittston Ave., Scranton. Those attending the funeral on Tuesday should proceed directly to the church.
