Mattie shares a stone with her husband, Herman G. Tabberer, who she married 1 January 1921. Their son, Gregory W. Tabberer, and daughter, Loraine Tabberer, are buried in Ferguson Cemetery. Mattie died at her home on in rural Anderson Co, TX. She was survived by her husband; one son, Rodney L. Tabberer of Denver, CO; five daughters, Marjorie A. Bradshaw of Houston, Eloise E. Bradshaw, Bebe E. Hordinski and Bertahnel Hordinski, all of Denver, CO, and Loraine Tabberer of Palestine; two brothers, Andy K. Newman of Poteet, TX and Minor E. Newman of El Campo, TX; two sisters, Laura Newman of Poteet, TX and Bertha Killam of Laredo, TX; ten grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Her obituary was published in the Palestine Herald-Press, Friday, 8 August 1986.
