Isaac W. Doten was the son of Isaac W. Doten (1798-1879) and Deborah Sturtevant Doten (1802-1850). He graduated from Berkshire Medical Institution in 1862. He married Fidelia Wright April 25, 1851. They were parents of Louise F. Doten(m. Dr. Charles R. Starkweather (1852-1943) and Alfred Isaac Doten (1855-1919). Fidelia died in 1856. Louise was raised by her maternal uncle Clark Brainerd Wright and Clarks wife Ann Louise Prentice and after her death second wife; Ann Marie McElwain. Alfred was raised by his maternal aunt Louise Wright Smith and husband Lawrence Smith.
