Youngest son of Joseph Hollingsworth and Rosannah Nichols Hollingsworth, likely born in Laurens County, SC. The Hollingsworth family appears to have moved to the Newton County, GA area in about 1834.

George married Elizabeth Jackson in neighboring Henry County GA on Dec 09, 1835. His link to Elizabeth is also documented on the inscription on his mother's tombstone located in the Smyrna Presbyterian Campground Cemetery.

George and Elizabeth had four children, noted in her father's will (Nathan Jackson). They were: William, James, Margarett and Marthena A Elizabeth Hollingsworth.

It appears Elizabeth died at the age of about 25, shortly after the birth of their fourth child.

George remarried about 1844 to Nancy Johnson and had two more children: Mary Ann and George.

Apparently George died in August of 1846 at age 35, several months prior to the birth of his namesake, George J. Hollingsworth.

George's second wife Nancy remarried to Nathaniel Rogers in 1847. Nathaniel had previously been married to George's sister Mary who died in 1844.
