BENTON, Mo. -- Shirley Elaine Sanford, 83, of Benton died Monday, Jan. 8, 2018, at her home.
She was born Aug. 28, 1934, in Concord Township, Iroquois County, Illinois, to Robert Thomas and Viola Thelma Perkins Fry. She married Rufus Roy Sanford Jr. on March 26, 1953. He preceded her in death Sept. 30, 2012.
She is survived by six sons, Roger (Mona) Sanford of Jackson, David Sanford, Jerry Sanford, Ronald (Krista) Sanford and Adam (Debbie) Sanford, all of Cape Girardeau, and Danny Sanford of Benton; six daughters, Anita (Lynn) Sides and Margaret (Rodney) Seabaugh of Jackson, Carol (Richard) Coomer of Shawneetown, Mary (Ron) Mansker of Cape Girardeau and Lisa Cox and Theresa Sanford of Benton; 23 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded death by two sons, a daughter, two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Rennie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
