He was the son of William H Brackin and Mitilda Dement Brackin.

S. E. Brackin Rites Today
Samuel Edgar Brackin, 84, 703 West Montgomery Avenue, Sheffield, died Sunday at 11:45 a.m. at Colbert County Hospital after a two weeks illness.

A native of Lawrence County, Ala., he had resided in Sheffield for the past 35 years. He was a retired farmer. Mr. Brackin was a member of the Town Creek Church of Christ.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Martha Ann Brackin, Sheffield; five sons, W. N. and Webster Brackin, both of Sheffield; Harvey and Hurley Brackin, both of Leighton; Ben Brackin, Sheffield; a daughter, Mrs. E. G. Gowers, Sheffield; 25 grand children, 22 great grand children; a brother, Henry Brackin, Town Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Weems, Mrs. Emma Berry, both of Town Creek, and Mrs. John Vick, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Funeral services were conducted this afternoon at 1 o'clock from the residence in Sheffield by G. R. Dobbs, minister of the Sheffield Westside Church of Christ. Burial followed in Shaw Cemetery, with Brown Service, Tuscumbia, directing.

Bearers were Clayborn Brackin, Leonard Gower, Howard Gower, Paul Richie, Buford Brackin, Harold Brackin.
