Ellie S. Chapman Dies At Residence
Was Former Alcohol Tax Unit Head

Funeral Services for Ellie S. Chapman, who died at his home at 1055 Central Street Saturday at 3:40, will be held at 4 p. m. Monday with Rev. Claude Bowen officiating.

Mr. Chapman had been in failing health about 3 years. He was the former head of the Mississippi Alcohol Tax Unit and served in that capacity for 22 years. He was a Mason and a member of the Calvary Baptist church.

A native of Hinds County, he had made his home in this city for the past 21 years.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Elli Austin Chapman, of Columbus, Ohio, one granddaughter, Carole Ann Chapman, of Columbus, Ohio, one brother, J. A. Chapman, of Utica, and one sister, Mrs. J. A. Strong of Learned.

Active pallbearers will be C. L Till, I. S. Barnes, A. Y. Harper, D. C. Simmons, B. B. McClendon, Will Downing and Eugene Fly.

Honorary pallbearers will be the men connected with the Mississippi Alcohol Tax Unit.

The services will be held at Wright and Ferguson Chapel and interment will be in Cedarlawn cemetery.
