Garry Lee Hamilton

Garry Lee Hamilton, 62, died Friday, March 23, 2007, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Edinburgh.

He was born April 14, 1944, to the late Bryan Hamilton and Deloris (Graham) Hamilton Bower. He married Sandra (Saberton) Hamilton on Sept. 11, 1966, and she survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Holly (Danny) Lusk of Edinburgh, Raquel Hamilton of Franklin and Heather (Jack Jr.) Shrader of Columbus; three grandchildren, Tyler Lanahan of Franklin and Megan and Evan Shrader, both of Columbus; one sister, Sharon Mason of Whiteland; four half sisters, Elaine Worton, Mary Ellen Politt and Deborah Garrett, all of Columbus, and Cynthia Hamilton of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by stepfather, Leon Bower.

He was a 1963 graduate of Edinburgh High School. He was a member of Edinburgh United Methodist Church.

He retired from Delta Airlines where he was employed as a senior customer service agent. He was well-known across Indiana for his music. He played lead guitar in various bands throughout his life, including Garry and the Twi-Liters, and Dee Dee Land and the Southwind Band, and was known as a local guitar legend. Garry also was a published song writer.

The Rev. Byron Fritz will conduct a funeral service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Edinburgh United Methodist Church. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1:30 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at Rest Haven Cemetery in Edinburgh.

Memorial contributions may be made to Edinburgh United Methodist Church Music Fund, 107 W. Campbell St., Edinburgh, IN 46124.

Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home in Edinburgh is handling arrangements.
