Marine Lance Cpl. Roberts was assigned to Marine Forces Reserve's 2nd Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Roberts died when the vehicle he was riding in hit a roadside bomb just 12 days before he was scheduled to return home. He was in the right rear passenger seat about 8:00 PM when the explosion occurred. Trevor graduated from Westmoore High School in 2004 where he was involved in Drama and excelled in History. During school, he worked at Harry Bears in Moore, Wal-Mart and Chuck's Specialty Meats. While a senior at Westmoore, Trevor joined the Marine Reserves. He attended Oklahoma City Community College for one year between boot camp and the time he was activated. He was one of 30 people from the unit who volunteered to go to Iraq and had been there for seven months as an artillery specialist. Trevor was a good, all American boy and very involved in his church. He was planning to participate in a church mission to China this summer. In his spare time, Trevor enjoyed reading all types of Christian books and listening to Contemporary Christian Music. He wrote on his web page about his faith and the dangers he faced: "Sometimes I'm awakened at night, and I can not go back to sleep for hours because something is heavy on my heart. For some reason, this is one such thing. How fast life can change on us. Over here, it might be a firefight or a roadside bomb that makes a normal drive a stir of chaos. Things most definitely don't always work out the way we dream and hope, but we have to keep going, for you never know what tomorrow might bring."
