June was born in Landsdale, PA, to William Russell and Eva (Siegle) Stott in 1925. She attended Landsdale High School and was a 1947 graduate of Bucknell University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, was a member of Honor House, and the Kappa Delta Sorority.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Pottstown, PA, for 56 years, was a Sunday School teacher, served on the Diaconette Board, Board of Christian Education, Gnosis Class and the "Elderberries." She dearly loved her First Baptist Church family.
June was an active member of the community where she served as a docent for historic Pottsgrove Manor, was a member of the Visiting Nurses' Association, and Habitat for Humanity. She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Chapter of PEO and served on the Land Conservation foundation for Chester County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene John Matthews, and her older brother, William Russell Stott, Jr.
June is survived by 3 children: June (Jose) DeMoya of Maysville, KY, Jan Ellen Matthews of Chandler, AZ, and John Stott (Carrie) Matthews of Franklin, MI. 4 grandchildren: Margo (Erik) Leontiev, Cape Coral, FL; John (Brooke) DeMoya, Crown City, OH; Peter S. DeMoya, Lexington, KY; and Zarey Alice Katherine, Franklin, MI; and 6 great grandchildren.
