JIMMIE EUGENE YOUNG, 85 of Sherwood passed away Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017. He was born Jan. 16, 1932 in Wilson, Ark., to the late Grady Carl and Maudie May McCollum Young.

Jimmie was a Korean War Veteran serving with the GHQ Raiders and the 720 MP's in Tokyo, he was a member of the International Operating Engineers Union as a Heavy Equipment Operator, loved talking on the phone and keeping in touch with everyone, and really enjoyed his sports.

Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shelia Joice Young, his children, Thomas Young (Kay) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Cindy Burt (Jerry) of Broughton, Ohio, Mark and Todd Smith, both of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Jennifer Riley of Cabot, Ark.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters and one brother. He was preceded by his parents and one brother.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, AR 72210, or to a charity of choice.

Funeral services are Wednesday, 11 a.m., Jan. 3, 2017 at Smith Sherwood Funeral Home. Viewing will be one hour prior to service. Private burial in the Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery.
