Pamela Millsaps Sharpe, 66, passed on July 20, 2016, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her family and friends. She was born in Statesville, NC to Dick and Doris Millsaps. She split her time between homes in Wrightsville Beach, NC and Scottsdale, AZ.
Pam was a lover of travel, golf and adventure. Her radiant personality and love for her sons and grandchildren were the driving force in her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Raymond Sharpe, her oldest son Paul and his wife Victoria and their two beautiful children, Evelyn and Michael; her youngest son Richard and his wife Elizabeth. Pam is also survived by her mother, Doris Millsaps, her sister Karen Blendowski and her husband Paul, her brother Jeff Millsaps and his wife Trina and her niece Savannah. Additionally, she is survived by her brother-in-law David Sharpe (Phylis) and sister-in law Martha Sharpe Pressnell (Gary).
After graduation from Statesville High School, Pam attended East Carolina University where she met her husband, Raymond, and they married while in college. She graduated from UNC-W with a degree in education. Shortly thereafter, Pam and Ray began their life of adventure together, living in various parts of the country, such as, New Jersey, Rhode Island and most recently Arizona. Pam traveled the world with Ray, visiting almost every continent, including her favorite adventure; safaris in South Africa. Her Tuesday lunch meetings with the “girls” at Cape Fear CC and her weekly golf games at Troon CC with her dear friends were always special and she cherished these moments.
Wherever Pam lived, she touched the lives of those around her, building lasting friendships that were the foundation for her strength in her battle with cancer. She was a gentle and kind soul, bringing light and joy to all, and will be deeply missed by those fortunate to have known her.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. William Kim and the staff of the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center, as well as to the staff at New Hanover Regional MICU for their support and care.
There will be a viewing at Andrews Mortuary, 1617 Market St, Wilmington, NC from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, July 22, 2016.
