Excerpt from Descendants of Louis Gasté dit Bellefleur in the Upper St. John Valley
de/by: Robert G. Daigle
"At some point after his mother's death, Louis, Jr. moved with his family to St-Basile in the recently founded Madawaska Settlement in the Upper St. John Valley. There he continued his work as a merchant until his death in May 1844. His five children all settled and married in the Upper St. John Valley. His oldest son settled in Frenchville, while his two other sons and their descendants remained on farms between Edmundston and Van Buren. His daughter Marie Anne, through her marriage to Augustin Pelletier, became the ancestor of many of the Pelletier families of Allagash and St. Francis, Maine. His youngest daughter Sophie, through her marriage to Germain Saucier, became the ancestor of many of the Saucier families of Fort Kent, Wallagrass and Eagle Lake in Maine, and Baker Brook and Clair in New Brunswick."
