Bertha F. Keeney, 98, of St. Joseph, Missouri, formerly of Onaga, died Friday, September 10, 2004, at a St. Joseph care home.
She was born July 9, 1906 in Skidmore, Missouri, the daughter of Jacob and Elnora Varner Smith.
Mrs. Keeney worked at the Onaga Telephone Company and also at The Onaga Herald until she retired.
She married Wilbur Surdez in 1929. He died in 1965. She later married Earl Keeney. He died in 1990.
Her parents, six brothers and five sisters also preceded her in death.
Graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 16, 2004 in the Neuchatel Cemetery.
