She was born in Abingdon, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Robert and Fanny Million; and paternal grandmother, Carrie Goodson. She was a graduate of Castlewood High School, The University of Virginia at Wise, and East Tennessee State University. As a student she was a published author and received many prestigious awards.
She is survived by her husband, her daughter, her mother and step father, her father and step mother, one sister, one brother, maternal step grandmother, several step siblings as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and two nieces.
Funeral Services for Amber Phillips Maxwell will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 in Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Mike Moore and Rev. Bob Neece officiating. Committal Services and Entombment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Tower of Prayer Mausoleum, Temple Hill Memorial Park, Castlewood, Virginia.
