Norma G. Ernenwein, 85, of Rome, died on Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Stonehedge Nursing Home. She was born on December 21, 1922, in Oriskany, NY, the daughter of William and Theresa Beasock Smith. On August 22, 1942, she was united in marriage to James A. Ernenwein in St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Rome. He died on June 3, 1990.

Norma was a former member of St. Mary's Church. She was a member of the Oriskany American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Norma was also a foster mother for Catholic Charities during the 1960s.

Surviving is a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Gerald Enos, Oriskany; two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Sharon Ernenwein, Rome, and Donald and Donna Ernenwein, Holland Patent; two sisters and brother-in-law, Mildred and Paul Ulmer, Floyd, and Edith Bailey, South Carolina; and six grandchildren, James (Diane) Enos, Jacqueline (Gary) Dillon, Jean (Cary) Vaeth, Michael (Tanya) Ernenwein, Donald (Sara) Ernenwein II, and Douglas Ernenwein and his fiancé Heather Bonhote; nine great-grandchildren, Austin, Alivia and Madalynne Enos, Dylan Hannaford, Jonathan Dillon, Nicholas and Haley Rose Vaeth, Emaleigh and Ryan Ernenwein; and several nieces and nephews. Norma was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Jane Ernenwein and a special niece Shirley (Percy) Landry.

Norma's family would like to express their gratitude to Pam Slagle, N.P., Mary Koperda, Tracy Archer, Shirley Kessler, and Wing 4 of the Stonehedge Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to her during her time of need.

Funeral services will be held at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, on Thursday at 9:45am and a Mass of the Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Assumption Church at 10:30am. Interment will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery. Family and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Norma's memory maybe made to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or the St. Mary's Church Memorial Fund.
