Julia Billie Shindel, 98, formerly of Palmyra passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at the Lebanon Valley Home, Annville.

Born November 27, 1919 in Enterprise, Kansas, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Marie E. (Larrison) Spalding. The widow of Ernest Shindel since February 2010, she was also preceded in death by her brother Charles Spalding and sisters Eunice McGarvey and Gertrude Sotter.

Julia was a member of Living Waters Chapel, Lebanon and a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are children Linda, wife of Dennis Lubold of Hershey, Wendy, wife of Dale Teets of Palmyra, Julie, wife of Tim Snyder of Harrisburg, Larry, husband of Sharon Shindel of Hummelstown, and David, husband of Gloria Shindel of Harrisburg; half-sister Kathy Comer of Virginia; half-brother Thomas Spalding of Maryland; 17 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; and Alice Bruce, her friend of 74 years.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Buse Funeral Home, 145 North Grant Street, Palmyra preceded by a viewing beginning at 10:00 AM. Private interment in Grand View Memorial Park, Annville.
