Alberta (Turpin) Tucker Grider
Funeral services for Alberta “Bertie” Grider, 93, of Lufkin will be held December 23, 2017 in the Carroway Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Oddfellows Cemetery.
Mrs. Grider was born October 11, 1924 in Orange, Texas to the late Louis Emille and Ophelia Mary Turpin, and passed away Thursday, December 21, 2017 in Lufkin.
Mrs. Grider was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired from Memorial Hospital in Lufkin in 1990. After retirement she worked in the offices of Drs. Malladi and Reddy for five years, and also enjoyed traveling with her friends.
She is survived by three of her four children and their spouses, John M. and Tommie Grider, Clay and Christine Grider, Sharon and Oscar Crawford; nine grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her youngest child, a son, Stewart Lee Grider on January 10, 1992; three brothers and sisters-in-law; and four sisters and brothers-in-law.
Her church family at Providence Baptist Church has been a source of friendship and comfort for over 59 years. Many of her dearest friends are, or were, in her Sunday School class at Providence.
